Kingfisher Day Nursery Didsbury follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS). The principles which guide the work of our Early Years Professionals are grouped into four themes:

A unique child

Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured

Positive relationships

Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or key person

Enabling environments

The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning

Learning and development

Children develop and learn in different ways and at different times; all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.

This framework sets out the learning and development stages for children as they grow from birth to five years. For those practitioners working in Early Years the EYFS outlines children’s stages and expected ages of developmental milestones. This framework is divided into 3 prime areas that form the foundations of learning. Then the four specific areas of learning that build on the foundations of the prime areas.

Here at Kingfisher Day Nursery we look at each child as an individual and track their learning and development on a digital learning journey called learning book. This allows you as a parent to access and input into your little ones learning journey via your fully secure learning book parent portal.

Every 12 weeks we track the children’s progress against the EYFS and plot their stages and developmental age. Then your child’s key person will reflect on your child’s interests and their development stage and will set next steps then a parent/grownup is offered the opportunity to meet with the key person to discuss the child’s development and input into the child’s next steps. These next steps are used to support the planned activities that take place through the day. There are a range of opportunities that are then offered as well as the children being able to play with activities of their choice supported by practitioners in the room.

Kingfisher Day Nursery Didsbury tracks the children’s learning and development across the whole setting this is our cohort and is displayed for our parents in our parent room. It is updated quarterly and then action plans to support the children’s learning and development are drawn up, this will include things like focused topics and practitioner training and development as well as assessments of equipment and Kingfisher Day Nursery Didsbury’s learning environment.

All our children have been busy having lots of fun and enjoying lots of different activites with all our satff & also with our extra curricular activites including, Spanish with Kids Lingo, Rhyme Time & Singing with Jo Jingles & Sports Coaching with Ultimate Kids.

We like all our children to get out and about in the local community taking trips to The Park, The Library, Local Shops, Trips On The Bus, Walks To The Tram Stop To See The Trams, The Local Fire Station.

Even in the rain our children have put on there water proofs and enjoyed lots of outdoor play splashing in puddles and making mud pies in our outdoor mud kitchen.

We are looking forward to some parent events where our parents can come in and enjoy some activities with their children, these parent events will be for all children in all our rooms. We aim to have parent events every 3-4 months.
